Overview of Cassa Integrazione, Dismissals and Unemployment - October 2013

In the first ten months of 2013 the hours of Cassa Integrazione Guadagni increased by 16% in the Area of Milan as compared with the same period in 2012; on the contrary, the hours of CIG were stable at national level.
Focusing on the Area of Milan, the hours of CIG Ordinaria and Straordinaria grew in October 2013 respect to October 2012, while CIG in Deroga diminished.

Concerning CIG Ordinaria of Assolombarda companies, in October 2013 the authorized hours decreased by 46% as compared to September; on the contrary, in the total Area of Milan the hours of CIG Ordinaria increased by 18%.

Negative signals persist about unemployment: the Italian unemployment rate reached a new record, up to 12.5% in September 2013 from 12.4% in August. The Italian value kept over Euro Area average, static at 12.2%. In the USA the unemployment rate diminished for the third consecutive month, down to 7.2%.
