Overview of Cassa Integrazione, Dismissals and Unemployment - March 2013
Authorized hours of CIG (Area of Milan), CIG Ordinary (Assolombarda companies) and Unemployment (Italy and other countries).
During the first 3 months of 2013, the hours of Cassa Integrazione Guadagni diminished by 5% in the area of Milan, as compared with the first quarter of 2012; in the same period the CIG increased by 12% at national level.
Concerning short-term values, on the other hand, the authorized hours of CIG grew in March in comparison with February 2013, both in the area of Milan and in Italy: the growth occurred for every single component of CIG.
Regarding component Ordinaria, in March the authorized hours of CIGO increased by 5% in the area of Milan; on the contrary Assolombarda companies’ hours decreased by 21% and they were 27% on the total amount of the area of Milan.
The growth of the Italian Unemployment rate, started last summer, stopped in February 2013. Indeed, the Italian Unemployment rate went down to 11.6% in February 2013 from 11.7% in January 2013. In the Euro Area the Unemployment rate reached 12%. In its monthly report, BCE stressed that on the one hand the gradual recovery of Economy was forecasted for second part of 2013; on the other hand the Unemployment was still increasing especially in the country mainly involved with the crisis (Ireland, Greece, Spain, Cyprus and Portugal). Indeed, overseas the US Unemployment rate went down to 7.7% from 7.9%.
